Spring Break gave students the chance to explore their future in a three-day field trip to four universities in Northern California: U.C. Berkeley, U.C. Santa Cruz, San Francisco State and Stanford.

In all, 41 students went on the college tour sponsored by the Honors Program, PUENTE, Project LAUNCH, Project GO, First Year Experience and EOPS from March 25-27. Some students paid $50 while others were sponsored by their clubs.

The $50 covered transportation, hotel rooms for two nights and continental breakfasts.

Student Annie Chavez said, "The trip was really beneficial because we got to see and compare campuses and hear representatives talk about the universities with other LBCC students want-ing to transfer too."

Transfer coordinator and counselor Ruben Page said the tour has gained popularity in the past three years.

"Part of the popularity is bonding with other transfer students, visiting their dream university and definitely the affordable cost of the tour," he said.

He added, "Students actually see themselves on the campuses we visit. Campus environment is important. Some students have heard about the visited schools' reputations but most have never stepped foot on campus."

This semester was also the first time Page added sight-seeing aspects in the tour. The trip included a short trip to the Golden Gate Bridge and the Santa Cruz boardwalk.

Page said, "I hope the tour got the message across that no matter what you see on paper about the university, actually being on the campus and getting the feeling for the surroundings and students is very important."

Another university tour is planned UCLA on Friday, April 25. Students may sign up at the ASB banks at the LAC or PCC for $10.
