The Spring 09 ASB banquet was last Friday at George's Greek Café on Pine Ave. Banquet goers slowly trickled into the back patio, which was decked with a cascading fountain and live Greek melodies strummed from an acoustic guitar, around five thirty p.m.

"Tonight is an opportunity for the ASB cabinet to honor and celebrate the accomplishments for the semester," ASB advisor Bill Webb said.

Awards presented at the banquet include: Board of Director's Choice Award, Board of Director's Appreciation Award, President's Choice Award, Advisor's Choice Award, Woman of the year and Man of the Year.

Those honored with the awards, respectively, were: Dawn Del Bello, Pam Garrison, Elsie Nolazco and Del Bello, Latonya Neal and Chris Karmelich.

Recognition was also given to the ASB Board of Directors, which was shortly followed by the installation of the Fall 2009 Board of Directors.

"What I'm proud of is they became a team…they cared about each other. That is what they will remember from their semester of service," Webb said.

Dario Ambriz will be replacing Neal as the ASB President for the Fall 2009 semester.

Reflecting on the Spring 09 semester, Neal said she was most proud of four accomplishments. They were the donation of: $100,000 to the Gateway to Greatness, $250,000 to the Measure E Bond, $50,000 to the new dance floors and getting the shuttle bus on its feet.

"My future goal is to open my own restaurant, Anna Ray's Country Kitchen, Specializing in Soul Foods, Cuisines and Little Pastries on the Side."

Viking awards were also presented. The Viking award winners were Dario Ambriz, Damian Apunte, Stephanie M. Davis, Jr., Roderick "Rocky" Kitchen, William Mac Dougall, Terrance Mc Clain, Violeta Pelzman, Terry Reems, Jose Salazar and Dione Vincent.
