Featuring student performing ensembles, such as the symphony orchestra, the college choir and the city jazz big band, the music department will present a scholarship concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11 in the LAC Auditorium.
Organizers say the concert is one of the most significant performances, revolving around music students, scholarships and grants.
Wayne Brashear, LBCC's jazz instrumental teacher, said, "The concert is a great event to represent the music department. Audiences will see 15 to 20 minutes of each group."
Funds earned from the performance go directly to the music department and its students.
"The scholarships will help students with private music lessons," Brashear said.
Spanish major Claudia Quintero said, "I think its a great opportunity. The scholarships benefit not just musicians, but everybody, since all the recent budget cuts."
The concert is free for LBCC students. General admission is $10 and tickets for seniors citizens and students are $5.
